Air Shift Safety Valve with Time Delay

Artex Pneumatic Shift system for the Funk 3 Speed transmission utilizes a primary solenoid valve (Air Shift Safety Valve) that includes a timing delay circuit. The delay is allows the transmission time to seat the gears before engaging the air pressure to the shift cylinders.

The delay allows better shifting gear match reducing the chance that the gears hit the tooth faces instead of meshing. The result can be run away winch pulling the tools down hole requiring emergency braking, which we know can be dangerous.
